Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer per-day use of the facility?

No, Brock's Gap Training Center is a private, member's-only facility. However, weekend matches and training events are open to the public.

How can I get two current members to endorse my application if I don't know anyone there?

Attend any of the monthly matches.  That's the best way to get to know folks, learn about our facility and get the necessary signatures.  All matches are listed in the Calendar.

How much does it cost to join?

Yearly dues are $275.00 plus a one-time application fee as noted on the application form.  When you first join, dues are prorated for the number of months remaining in the membership-year, which runs from July 1st to June 30th.  Additionally, members are required to participate in one work-day each year.  Designated work-days will be posted on our website.  If a member does not participate in a work-day, a $75.00 Range Maintenance fee will be assessed.

Is it required that I join the National Rifle Association before becoming a member?

Yes, active membership in the NRA is required for membership at Brock's Gap Training Center.  You can join the NRA here.

I'm not an avid competitor, do I have to participate in two matches as part of becoming a member?

Yes, participation in two matches is a requirement.  This is done to evaluate gun-handling skills and overall focus on safety.  However, we offer matches for all skill levels, from novice to expert, so you're bound to find one you'll enjoy.

Do I get a gate key when I join?

Yes, once you've been approved you will receive an ID card and a magnetic key which will allow access to the facility 365-days per year.

As a member, can I bring guests?

Yes, you certainly can.  During the week you can bring up to four guests.  On weekends you can bring two guests.

I have physical limitations, how can I satisfy the work-day requirement?

Not all range projects require physical labor.  Contact the Range Operations Officer or the work-day coordinator for specific projects and they will gladly work with you.

Are there work-day opportunities outside of the posted, official work days?

Yes, work opportunities arise quite often outside of official work-days.  Look in the club e-mails, newsletters, or on the website for information as these opportunities arise.  Also, if you have suggestions or ideas for projects, submit them to the Board for consideration.

How do I find out when ranges are closed for training events or construction?

Always check the website.  Notices are posted on the main page, the Calendar or the Police training schedule.  Sometimes events come up too quickly to post, but this doesn't happen often.
